Carteret

I hope you are having a fantastic start to your summer, RLS Media, friends, and family! It’s Najla here, and I wanted to appreciate the shift in the air when it’s time to create new summer memories.Ad Whether it’s spending time with friends and family or enjoying the simplicity of your own company, enjoying those little breaks from reality makes the hardships of life seem less significant.

The Borough of Carteret ensured this for its community by having a safe space, such as the Waterfront Park, which is constantly growing and expanding so that everyone can come together and celebrate what makes us all unique.

Brought to you by the Honorable Mayor Daniel J. Reiman and the Carteret Borough Council, Carteret’s Annual Independence Day Festival took off without a hitch! At Carteret’s very own Waterfront Park, there was a celebration of this country and constant improvements for the park to plan for bigger events in the future.

The festival took place on Wednesday, July 3rd, from 6:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. and featured terrific live music, a DJ who kept playing back-to-back hits throughout the night, rides and games for kids, not to mention all the delicious food you could choose from, and unique vendors where you could purchase jewelry or even get a Henna tattoo!

There was something fun for the whole family to do, whether it was enjoying the food trucks, playing games, or, at last, enjoying the spectacular fireworks with someone special.

At 9:15 p.m., the fireworks celebration lit up the sky in a beautiful array of colors as you saw kids with huge smiles running around, laughing and playing.

Everyone was just celebrating being there for one another in difficult times in this vast, accepting community that allows for new and more memorable events each year.

The 4th of July is about independence and celebrating what it means to be free in a country experiencing so many hardships, but it may not seem that the people who are supposed to protect our rights are entirely listening to us.

On top of feeling unheard, how are we as a community supposed to celebrate a day when nothing seems to be done for us? It may seem hard but we have the power to make a change by voting and reaching out to our community, making sure we come together to produce such change to ensure a better and brighter future while trying not to let that heavy burden weigh us down.  Pic

Not allowing for those trials and tribulations we each go through daily to burden us even more but allowing ourselves to take the time to celebrate with our community matters so much in a time when we are divided daily.  Pic

Seeing how much the community was thriving despite the heavy feelings surrounding our nation and its future truly made you forget, at least for a little while, and let yourself enjoy summer moments like this one, big or small. AdHave a fantastic Independence Day, RLS Media friends and family! Check back to see what fun activities Carteret has planned for us and what new summer memories were made!
