Carjacking Turns Violent Leaving Man Shot, Seriously Injured in Newark

A violent carjacking that occurred overnight in Newark has a man fighting for his life in a Newark hospital this morning after being shot during the incident. 

Essex County authorities are on the hunt for four violent armed suspects that committed the armed carjacking that occurred in the 200 block of Rose Street in the city's South Ward shortly before midnight. The suspects reportedly pointed several weapons at the victim,  ordering him out of the vehicle. The suspects then fired at least one shot, striking the victim in the face, taking off with his vehicle. 

The suspects were reportedly occupying a white Infinite with temp license plates. The vehicle taken is a 4-door blue 2005 Lexus ES-4 with NJ license plates " M88-EBJ". 

The victim was taken to University Hospital where he was said to be in serious condition. 

Police in Newark are investigating.
