Police in Newark are investigating a violent carjacking in the city's Ironbound section on Friday morning.
The early morning incident happened around 3:30 a.m. in the 300 block of Oliver Street.
A preliminary investigation indicated that the victim/driver was approached by suspects armed with a knife and demanded the keys to a black Sonata.
The victim was stabbed in the torso during the incident and suffered non-fatal injuries.
EMS transported the injured to University Hospital for treatment while police stayed at the scene and investigated the incident.
The suspects fled the scene and remained at large.
