Police in Newark are investigating the cause of a pedestrian strike that severely injured a man in downtown Newark Sunday morning.
According to police, at approximately 12:20 a.m., police responded to the vicinity of Broad and Hill streets on a call of an adult male struck by a vehicle.
When police arrived, they found the unconscious and unresponsive victim paying on the ground at that location.
Police said the victim was transported to University Hospital for treatment and is currently in critical condition.
The driver remained at the scene.
The incident remains under investigation.
