New Jersey State Police officials are leading the investigation into a crash that killed a person on a highway in Bergen County Friday night.
Preliminary reports revealed that at approximately 11:50 p.m., NJ State Police were notified of a violent crash that caused a vehicle to overturn on I-80 near exit 56 in Hackensack.
Troopers arrived and found a badly damaged -car split in half- with a severely injured, unconscious and unresponsive person at the scene.
The unidentified victim was ultimately pronounced dead as a result of the collision.
Police are investigating if the incident began on nearby Route 17 and ended on I-80.
No other serious injuries were reported and the crash is under investigation.
