Authorities are investigating an early morning crash on Saturday that left a car wedged under a tractor-trailer, resulting in injuries and a fuel spill. According to a statement released by the Gloucester Township Police Department, officers responded to a motor vehicle crash around 2:19 a.m. near the intersection of Sicklerville Road and Garwood Road in the Erial section of the township.
Upon arrival, they found a sedan lodged beneath the trailer of a tractor-trailer.
The driver and passenger of the sedan managed to exit the vehicle before emergency crews arrived.

The passenger suffered a broken arm and multiple lacerations, while the driver was not injured. The tractor-trailer driver, who was the only occupant of the truck, was also unhurt.
A preliminary investigation found that the sedan driver failed to notice the tractor-trailer making a left turn and attempted to illegally pass, causing the car to become wedged under the trailer’s rear axles.
The impact ruptured a fuel tank for the trailer’s refrigeration system, spilling diesel onto the roadway.
Emergency responders, including the Lambs Terrace Fire Department, Pine Hill Fire Department, Camden County Hazmat, and Camden City Fire Department, worked alongside private tow companies to stabilize the trailer, extract the car, and contain the fuel leak.
As a result, Sicklerville Road and Garwood Road were closed for several hours while crews worked to clear the scene.
The crash remains under investigation by Gloucester Township Police.
