Police reported minor injuries in a crash that sent a car crashing into a house Sunday morning in Newark's North Ward.
According to preliminary reports, at approximately 3:35 a.m., emergency responders used to the vicinity of McCarter Highway at Chester Avenue to investigate reports of a crash.
Upon arrival, firefighters found an overturned vehicle just off the southbound Exit 8 ramp that collided into a house at that location.
The occupant was extricated from the vehicle then transported to University Hospital for an evaluation.
The cause of the crash is under investigation and no one inside the house suffered injuries.
Several Police officers working the crash scene were rerouted to the vicinity of Chester Avenue and Riverside Avenue to investigate a loaded weapon recovered at that location.
Two males were arrested and charged with possessing the weapon.
The incidents do not appear to be connected at this time.
