Car, Motorcycle Crash in NJ Causes Severe Injuries

Officials said an active investigation is underway following a serious crash on Monday night. AdAccording to the police report, at approximately 11:01 p.m., Gloucester Township Police were dispatched to Woodbury Turnersville Rd., in front of number 425, for a reported motor vehicle crash.

Police say callers reported that a motorcycle with two occupants had struck an SUV, resulting in severe injuries to both individuals on the motorcycle.

Upon arrival, officers found the motorcycle upright, with its front protruding into the engine compartment of the SUV.

Both the operator and the female passenger of the motorcycle had been thrown from the vehicle.

Officers, along with BLS/ALS and fire personnel, attempted to stabilize the victims, who were then transported to Cooper Hospital Trauma Center with serious injuries.

The occupants of the SUV were uninjured and refused treatment.AdThe Gloucester Township Serious Crash Investigation Team (SCIT) conducted an investigation at the scene, which led to the closure of Woodbury Turnersville Rd. for approximately two hours.

Initial findings revealed that the motorcycle was traveling west on Woodbury Turnersville Rd. when the SUV attempted to make a left turn into 425 Woodbury Turnersville Rd., causing the crash.

Police said evidence indicated that the motorcycle driver attempted to avoid the collision but was unsuccessful.

The crash remains under investigation, and no charges have been filed at this time.AdAs the summer months approach, the Gloucester Township Police Department reminds drivers to stay alert, as motorcycles are smaller and often harder to see. Motorcyclists have the same rights on the road as any other motorist.
