Authorities in Newark’s South Ward are searching for a gunman who fired multiple rounds in a residential neighborhood Sunday afternoon, striking a home and a vehicle.
According to police, a ShotSpotter device detected gunfire at approximately 1:19 p.m. near 109 Hanford Street, prompting several officers to respond.
Upon arrival, units discovered numerous shell casings in the area and contacted Newark’s Shooting Response Team to assist with the investigation.
As detectives canvassed the scene, they found a car and a home damaged by bullets, leading investigators to suspect a possible shootout involving multiple individuals.
The suspects fled the scene and remain at large. Fortunately, no injuries were reported.
Authorities are actively investigating the incident and urge anyone with information to come forward.
