Car, Home Struck by Bullets in Newark Shooting

Newark

Suspects occupying a vehicle sped away from the scene of a shooting in Newark's Central Ward Saturday evening.

Police said at approximately 7:30 p.m., officers responded to reports of shots fired near 14th Avenue and South 15th Street.

When officers arrived, they found shell casings and property damage after a car and home were struck by flying bullets.

Newark officials requested hospitals in the region be on the lookout for walking gunshot victims, but no victims were immediately reported.

According to police, the suspects pulled up in the area in a burgundy car then began firing at unknown targets before fleeing the scene.

The motive for the shooting is under investigation.
