A late night car crash that happened in the city left one person dead and authorities investigating.
The crash happened in the 500 block of West 2nd Street at around 11:30 p.m. when authorities were called to the scene on reports of a crash with injuries.
Rescue crews arrived a short time later where they located an unconscious and unresponsive person inside of a vehicle suffering trauma to the head according to reports.
According to reports from the scene, the vehicle some how lost control and crashed into a pole, snapping the pole in half apparently causing fatal injuries.
Investigators from the Union County Prosecutor's Office were on the scene looking into the incident and we should have additional details as they become available later this morning.
