Camden County Prosecutor Mary Eva Colalillo and Camden County Police Chief Scott Thomson report a homicide in the city on Monday, August 8, 2016.
Camden County Police responded at approximately 8:46 p.m. on Monday, August 8, 2016 to the 800 block of South 6th Street in Camden in reference to a ShotSpotter activation for multiple gunshots.
Officers arrived and located two female victims, Braniya James, 21 and Essynce Blakney, 18, both from Camden suffering from gunshot wounds.
The victims were transported to Cooper University Hospital. Braniya James succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced deceased at 8:49 p.m. Essynce Blakney is listed in stable condition.
The investigation into the shooting is ongoing.
No arrests have been made at this time.
