Camden Man Gets 15 Years for 2007 Fatal Shooting

Camden

Camden County Prosecutor Mary Eva Colalillo and Camden County Police Chief Scott Thomson announced a Camden man received a sentence of 15 years in prison for fatally shooting a man in the city in 2007.

Edwin Urbina, 24, pleaded guilty on April 11, 2016 to aggravated manslaughter in the death of 22-year-old Edwin Torres of Camden.

Torres was found shot on the street outside his home near 3rd and Erie Street in Camden at approximately 10:32 a.m. on November 24, 2007.

The shooting apparently stemmed from a verbal dispute between Torres and Urbina. During the argument Urbina pulled a gun and shot Torres repeatedly.

Urbina was 16 at the time he shot and killed Torres.

Urbina will be required to serve at least 85 percent of the sentence in prison before he is eligible for parole.

The sentence was imposed on Friday by Superior Court Judge Steven Polansky.
