According to Camden County officials, a man has been charged in the fatal shooting of his girlfriend inside their Camden home on July 5.
Junior English, 29, of Camden, has been charged with one count of first-degree murder in the shooting death of Lateemah Leavy, 37, of Camden.
According to reports, police responded to the 2900 block of North Congress Rd. after English called 911 to report Leavy not breathing. Operators determined English was calling from a vehicle in Pleasantville.
Officers from the Pleasantville, Absecon, and Galloway Township Police Departments and the Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office responded to English’s location on the 400 block of E. Delilah Rd. in Pleasantville.
According to police, English barricaded himself in his car and after hours of a standoff, ran from his vehicle into the woods while brandishing a handgun.
An officer from the Absecon Police Department was able to successfully apprehend English without incident.
English is currently being held in the Atlantic County Jail on weapons charges.
