Camden Man Charged with Fatal May Shooting

Camden County Prosecutor Mary Eva Colalillo and Camden County Police Chief Scott Thomson announced a Camden man has been charged in connection with a fatal shooting that occurred May 28, 2016.

Jermaine Burnett, 23, is charged with first-degree murder in the death of 28-year-old Britton Knox of Camden. He was served with murder charges in state prison while being housed on a parole violation.

He is scheduled to be arraigned at 1:30 p.m. on Monday (6/20/16) before Superior Court Judge Edward J. McBride Jr. in courtroom 36 (third floor) at the Camden County Hall of Justice.  The courthouse is located at 101 S. 5th Street in Camden.

Burnett is accused of fatally shooting Knox on the 1300 block of Browning Street in Camden

Camden County Police responded at approximately 2:23 p.m. on Saturday, May 28 in reference to a ShotSpotter activation for multiple gunshots and 911 calls.

Officers arrived and located the victim suffering from gunshot wounds. He was transported to Cooper University Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased at approximately 2:58 p.m.
