A 31-year-old city inspector in East Orange was arrested Thursday morning on charges of bribery and extortion.
According to o authorities, Salahudyin Jones of East Orange, allegedly demanded bribes ranging from $200 to $500 in exchange of issuing building certifications or to dismiss building code violations.
Jones was processed and released, according to authorities. His first appearance is scheduled for July 2.
If convicted he could face 5 to 10 years in prison for each charge.
