A late night brush fire inside an City park extended to a nearby garage, destroying a vehicle.
The brush fire broke out inside the park located on Myrtle Ave. and Eberhardt Place shortly before 10 p.m. sending firefighters to the scene where they noticed the fire beginning to extend to a garage in the 300 block of Myrtle Ave.
Firefighters took less than a half hour to bring the blaze under control but heavy flames destroyed the garage and vehicle that was inside.
The owner of the garage said that she believes that the fire may have been started by individuals grilling food in the park who dumped the coal near the gate that separates the park from her yard. "I am not sure, it could have been fireworks. The Fire Marshall will bring me a report on Wednesday" the woman said.
