A Brooklyn woman was arrested at a Linden bank for identity theft Friday morning, police said in a release this morning.
Police responded to the Wells Fargo Bank, located at 705 W. St. George Ave., on a report of a woman attempting to obtain a debit card using a customer’s personal identification Friday (Nov. 13) shortly after 11:30 a.m.
Crystal Simone Lee, 51, of Brooklyn, N.Y., had a South Carolina driver license in the customer’s name and knew her social security number.
When a teller alerted the Fraud Department, it was verified that the customer was still in South Carolina.
Lee was arrested and charged with wrongful impersonation, identity theft, and possession of a fraudulent driver license.
She told officers she was going to use the debit card to pay off some debts.
She was released on a summons pending a court date in Union County court.
