Somerset County officials announced an unattended death investigation into a deceased Bridgewater resident that was found in the parking lot of a convenience store on Highway 206 on Monday, June 6, in the Township of Hillsborough.
Somerset County Acting Prosecutor Annmarie Taggart stated that on Monday, June 6, at approximately 5:17 p.m., Hillsborough Police Officers were dispatched to the area of a convenience store on Route 206 in response to a 911 call.
According to Prosecutor Taggart, the victim, whom authorities have identified as Michael Sokolinski, 28, of Bridgewater, was located in his vehicle and was subsequently pronounced deceased at the scene.
Detectives from the Hillsborough Township Police Department responded to the scene to investigate, along with detectives from the Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crimes Unit.
Investigators from the New Jersey Northern Regional Medical Examiner’s Office also responded to the scene to conduct an investigation.
According to Prosecutor Taggart, the unattended death remains under investigation by detectives pending an autopsy and toxicology report from the New Jersey Northern Regional Medical Examiner’s Office.
The Prosecutor’s Office investigates all unattended deaths in Somerset County, and the occurrence of an investigation does not mean that criminal activity occurred or is suspected.
