Bridgewater Man Carjacked in Elizabeth

Police are investigating a report of a carjacking in Elizabeth Tuesday afternoon.

Police responded to a 911 reporting a carjacking in the area of Front and E. Jersey streets Tuesday at approximately 5 p.m.

Upon arrival, officer met with the victim - a 42-year-old Bridgewater man - who told police that he pulled over his tan 2004 Honda Accord to type coordinates into his GPS, when he was approached by a male with bloodshot eyes, who appeared to be under the influence of drugs or alcohol.

The male -only described as a tall, skinny black male wearing a large puffy black jacket and blue jeans - stuck a black revolver into the partially opened driver’s side window of the vehicle, and ordered the victim to exit the vehicle.

The victim complied and upon exiting ran off. The victim told police 5that the armed man took off north on First Street.

After an extensive search of the area, the carjacked vehicle was not located.

Detectives are currently investigating the incident.
