Police are reporting non-fatal injuries in a drive-by shooting that struck a female this evening in Elizabeth.
According to a preliminary investigation, police responded to reports of shots fire that rang out near Pingry Place and Salem Avenue around 7:50 p.m.
When police arrived at the scene, they found about a half dozen shell casings on the ground, with a female struck in the leg by at least one bullet.
Police say shooters occupying a car sprayed the neighborhood with bullets then sped away from the scene.
It is not clear if the woman was the target of the shooting at this time.
The investigation is active as ongoing.
