A massive police response is on the scene of a shooting incident with several individuals injured in a Linden neighborhood at this time.
According to preliminary information from the scene, police were dispatched to the teens block of Chatham Place to investigate reports of a person shot shortly before 10 a.m.
Officers arrived and requested EMS after they found as many as four people suffering gunshot wounds at that location.
Reports state that at least two victims have been pronounced dead at the scene and another person is gravely injured.
The Union County Prosecutor’s Office has been notified and has made their way to the scene to assist in the investigation.
Several distraught neighbors are being assisted by EMS for stress. Some residents are reporting murder-suicide.
The exact motive for the shooting is under an active and ongoing investigation.
UPDATE 11:17 am :
At approximately 9:30 am this morning Officers responded to Chatam Place on reports of a shooting.
Officers on scene located two adult victims and a juvenile victim who where pronounced deceased on scene.
A second juvenile victim was transported to Newark University Hospital in critical condition.
The shooter is believed to be among the deceased, and there is no further threat to the public.
