Two firefighters suffered burns in a multi-alarm fire that destroyed several buildings in a section of Paterson Sunday morning.
The early morning fire broke erupted at 489 Summer Street around 1:40 a.m. sending dozens of firefighters racing to the scene.
Upon their arrival, crews observed heavy flames tearing through a building and rapidly spreading to fie other homes at that location.
Paterson fire officials confirmed that two firefighters suffered non-life threatening burns and about nine residents were displaced.
Firefighters continued to battle the fierce fire that jumped from building to building as of 2:45 a.m. then placed the fire under control about a half-hour later as they continued to extinguish hot spots from the main fire building.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
