Newark Police are on the scene of a shooting with three victims struck by bullets in a section of the city’s South Ward.
Police responded to a ShotSpotter activation that alerted authorities of gunfire in the area of Harding and Bergen around 8:40 p.m.
When officers arrived at the scene, they found two men suffering gunshot wounds in their legs.
Police said while officers secured the scene, officials at Beth Israel Hospital alerted them of a male gunshot victim who entered the emergency department.
According to a preliminary investigation, police said witnesses reported occupants in two vehicles drove through the area repeatedly firing shots at each other.
Police are reporting non-life-threatening injuries at this time.
Officers have recovered over a dozen shell casings in the area.
