There are severe injuries reported for at least one occupant of a vehicle involved in a crash on the NJ Turnpike in Middlesex County on Monday morning.
The two-vehicle crash happened around 5:55 a.m. in the south hound lanes of the highway near mile marker 94.6 in Woodbridge.
Police say a preliminary investigation indicated that the vehicle collided, causing severe injuries to a man and woman.
As of 6:34 a.m. NJ State Police officials have not confirmed fatal injuries.
The NJ Department of Transportation said the following regarding traffic delays on the highway:
"As of 6:14 am, There's a crash on the New Jersey Turnpike outer roadway southbound just south of Interchange 12 - Carteret-Rahway in Woodbridge Twp. The left and center lanes are blocked."
The cause of the crash is under investigation by NJ State Police.
UPDATE: The woman has been pronounced dead.
