The Essex County Prosecutor's Office has been notified of an investigation into a shooting incident that occurred near Branch Brook Park in Belleville, resulting in severe injuries to one individual.
Initial reports indicate that police were dispatched to the Mill Street area at the park's border with Newark after receiving notifications of gunfire.
Upon their arrival at the scene, officers discovered an unidentified person and a child suffering from gunshot wounds.
Emergency medical personnel were seen administering CPR to one of the victims, although the individual's current condition remains unclear.
The 100 block of Mill Street has been cordoned off as police continue their investigation into the shooting.
As of now, the motive behind the incident has not been established.
