Several occupants jumped from windows of a house that ignited in flames this afternoon in Paterson.
According to preliminary reports, firefighters rushed to the hundred block of North 1st Street after receiving reports of fired inside a home at that location.
Upon arrival, crews observed heavy flames tearing through the second floor of a two-story house just before 1:40 p.m.
Fire officials requested as many as four ambulances to transport victims who jumped from the burning building.
As of 2:40 p.m., crews were still battling intense flames that were engulfing the house. Officials signaled three-alarms for manpower to assist in fighting the fire.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
