Emergency responders are on the scene of a crash with serious injuries reported on a highway in East Orange at this time.
According to preliminary information, NJ State Police responded to reports of a crash in the southbound lanes of The Garden State Parkway near mile marker 148.3 in East Orange just before 10:55 a.m.
Upon arrival, police found that a car somehow veered off the right side of the roadway and crashed into a tree at that location. The driver inside the vehicle was trapped and seriously injured, according to officials.
Firefighters and rescue crews were able to extricate the victim then hand them over to EMS, who transported the unidentified person to University Hospital for treatment.
The collision caused some southbound delays on the highway.
There were no other injuries reported.
