Police have established a crime scene and are conducting an investigation into a shooting incident in Newark's South Ward.The incident occurred around 3:45 p.m. when a ShotSpotter device alerted police to gunfire in the area of South 10th Street and Clinton Avenue.
Upon arrival, officers found a male victim suffering severe injuries after a gunman approached and fired multiple times, striking him twice.
The victim was rushed to University Hospital by police units and is currently in critical condition.
Shell casings were found scattered over a block-long area, indicating the severity of the shooting.The suspect fled the scene and remains at large. Authorities have urged the public to avoid the area due to the ongoing investigation.
