Police have established a crime scene in the area of South13th Street and Central Avenue following a dramatic chase that took place after a shooting this morning.
According to preliminary reports, shortly before 10:25 a.m., officers responded to reports of shots fired in the West Ward corridor.
Upon arrival, they discovered an individual with gunshot wounds and promptly secured the area.
While canvassing the vicinity, officers identified a vehicle believed to be connected to the crime.
When they attempted to pull the driver over, the suspect ignored the police lights and sirens, leading them on a high-speed chase. The pursuit ended at Central Avenue and South 13th Street, where the suspect's vehicle crashed.
The suspects attempted to flee on foot but were quickly apprehended by the officers.
A long gun, believed to be the weapon used in the shooting, was confiscated at the scene.
In addition to the two suspects taken into custody at the crash site, another individual was apprehended on Rose Street in the city's South Ward in connection with the shooting.
Police officials have not released further details regarding the incident, and the investigation remains active as authorities work to determine the motive behind the shooting.
