Police in the west Essex County town of Verona are investigating the cause of a crash that left a person with serious injuries early Sunday morning.
It happened near the car wash in the 100 block of Bloomfield Avenue at approximately 3:40 a.m.
Neighboring municipalities joined Verona emergency responders and rescue crews to assist in extricating a trapped occupant from an overturned car.
Hackensack Air-1 Medivac helicopter was called to the scene to assist in airlifting the victim to the hospital.
One other person was transported to the hospital after they fell in a trench and suffered a serious leg injury during the operation.
The cause of the crash is under investigation.
