Neighbors in the 100 block of Tremont Ave. said they heard arguing then gunfire late last night sending scores of police and investigators to the scene investigating at around 11 p.m.
Upon arrival, police found a female victim shot dead inside a house at that location. An immediate evacuation of all residents was conducted as fears of the shooter was reportedly barricaded inside the house.
Police secured the scene and began a search of the residence where they found a male victim inside injured. The identity of the victims or the motives for the shootings are not immediately known at this time.
Detectives from the Essex County Prosecutor's Office are conducting the investigation.
