UPDATE: Incident was a hit and run/domestic... No carjacking/No Child involved
There is an active search for a vehicle that was carjacked this evening with a child inside in Newark’s South Ward.
According to preliminary reports, the incident happens in the vicinity of 252 Lyons Avenue where a suspect took the vehicle from the victim at around 6:40 p.m.
Police say the vehicle is a 2002 green Jeep Cherokee with a license plate number ”L90-LUZ”.
The suspect sped westbound on Lyons Avenue and no weapons have been reported.

UPDATE 7:33 PM Witness located but no victim located at this time.
UPDATE 7:39PM Search called off as possible unfounded... Vehicle appears to fled the scene after a crash/domestic violence incident.
