Essex County Authorities are reporting that Kareem D. Dawson, 31, of Irvington, the suspect who shot a Newark female on February 6, died today at Morristown Memorial Hospital.
Authorities said at approximately 8 a.m. on February 6th, police responded to a shooting that occurred at a Scheerer Avenue residence.
When they arrived, officers discovered a woman suffering from an apparent gunshot wound.
EMS rushed the woman to University Hospital where doctors pronounced her dead.
Police said while investigating, and officers attempted to apprehend suspect Dawson when a pursuit ensued that ultimately ended in Summit, at which point the suspect sustained a then-non-fatal, self-inflicted gunshot wound.
Authorities said Dawson died of his injuries earlier today.
