A shooting that happened in the city's South Ward has two people dead in Newark this evening.
Police responded to reports of shots fired in the 300 block of Clinton Place shortly before 8:30 p.m.
Cops arrived to the scene to find a male and a female suffering apparent injury from gunfire.
Both victims were reportedly pronounced dead at the scene a short time later.
The shooting is the result of a possible home invasion robbery.
There is a crime scene established and an investigation underway.
