Acting Essex County Prosecutor Carolyn A. Murray and Newark Public Safety Director Anthony F. Ambrose have announced that authorities have arrested the second suspect in the May 2, 2016 murder of Joseph Micalizzi at a fraternity house on Dr. Martin Luther King Blvd. in Newark.
According to authorities detectives from the Prosecutor’s Major Crimes Task Force, which includes detectives from the Newark Police Department, arrested Taquan Harris, age 22, late Friday afternoon.
Detectives apprehended Harris, without incident, in the 100 block of Munn Avenue in Irvington, NJ, according to Chief Assistant Prosecutor Thomas S. Fennelly, of the Prosecutor’s Homicide Unit.
Harris has been charged with murder, felony murder, robbery, burglary and weapons offenses, according to Fennelly. Harris will be lodged in the Essex County Correctional Facility. Bail has previously been set at $1,000,000.
