Police are on two crime scenes investigating instances of shots-fired with three males down in the city's North Ward at this time.
According to Newark Police, multiple rounds of gunfire rang out in the vicinity of 155 Verona Avenue at approximately 4:10 a.m.
Police say, when they arrived at the scene, they found two males -alert and conscious- suffering bullet wounds in their legs.
While police were assisting the victims on Verona Avenue, officers were alerted of a male struck by bullets in the 40's block of Irving Street.
Officers rushed to that scene and found a male shot in the leg at that location. The victim reported that he suffered his injuries on Verona Avenue, as well.
All of the victims were rushed to University Hospital with the Verona Avenue gunshot victims in stable condition and the Irving Street man in serious condition.
According to preliminary reports, the victims were standing on Verona Avenue when a white vehicle -with tinted windows- 'pulled up on' them. Police say one of the passengers began firing out of the car at the trio.
During the shooting, one of the victims began to run from the scene, but the vehicle chased and fired multiple times in his direction.
The motive for the shooting is under investigation.
