NEWARK -- Acting Essex County Prosecutor Carolyn A. Murray and Newark Public Safety Director Anthony F. Ambrose announced today that the Essex County Prosecutor's Homicide /Major Crimes Task Force and the Newark Police Department are investigating a double shooting that resulted in the death of 15-year-old girl.
Authorities identified the girl as **Hanayah Woods of Newark** and said that the shootings occurred in the 100 block of South 10th Street.
A second victim, a 25 year old woman, was grazed by bullets but her name is not being released at this time authorities said.
Both victims were taken to University Hospital where Woods was pronounced dead at 12:55 a.m. authorities said.
At this time no suspects have been identified and no arrests have been made authorities said.
Family members told RLS Metro that Woods was prepared to start the school year in Newark but they are now planning her funeral.
The investigation is active and ongoing.
