A shooting that happened in Newark's Central Ward has police on the scene investigating at this time.
Police responded the the 600 block of Martin Luther King Boulevard at around 4:30 p.m. after receiving calls reporting shots fired.
Units arrived to the scene to find the victim unconscious and unresponsive after being shots at that location.
He was pronounced dead a short time later.
The victim is reportedly inside the convenience store.

UPDATE 6:36 p.m. This is now a homicide investigation confirmed by The Essex County Prosecutor's Office.
