There is an active investigation underway with a street closure in the city's West Ward as detectives look into a crash that occurred early Wednesday morning.
As of 6:10 a.m., RLS Metro Breaking News field crew or staff could not confirm injuries for the crash but according to preliminary reports, at approximately 5:45 a.m. Newark Police cruiser and a taxi cab collided near the intersection of Grove and Grain streets.
The crash caused severe damage to both vehicles according to on the scene reports from our guys. Our crew did witness an ambulance being followed by a Newark Police car on South Orange Avenue in the direction of University Hospital upon their arrival.
Grove Street is shut down from South Orange Avenue and if you are coming in from the East Orange side -Central Avenue-, you will detour near Grain Street.
