Police in Newark are investigating a shooting that killed a juvenile on Sunday night in the city.
According to preliminary reports, police responded to reports of an injured person in the area of 321 Schley Street at around 11:17 p.m.
Police officers arrived at the scene and found the unidentified victim around the age of 17-years-old struck by bullets at that location according to police. Authorities are looking into Cypress Street as they launched an investigation into the shooting.
The victim was rushed to University Hospital where he died from his injuries according to The Essex County Prosecutor's Office.
Authorities have not released a motive for the shooting nor have they 'officially' identified the victim at this time.
The family of the young man would only sadly say "he did not suffer and he is at peace."
The incident is in the hands of the Essex County Prosecutor's Office.
