There are injuries reported for several people that are occupying a NJ bus and car that collided in the city’s South Ward at this time.
Details are continuing to develop but according to preliminary reports, sometime around 10 a.m. a vehicle struck NJ Transit bus #39 which then crash into a light pole that subsequently collapse on the sidewalk near the intersection of Bergen Street and Nye Avenue.
Officials say three people, including two bus passengers, we’re transported to University Hospital in Newark with non-life threatening injuries.
The driver of the vehicle did not remain at the scene.
The cause of the crash is under investigation.
UPDATE: NJ Transit officials told RLS Metro nine people were on board bus #39 when it was struck by a vehicle. Emergency responders transported several people to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries. The Newark Police Department is investigating the crash.
