There are no injuries immediately reported in a shots fired incident that had bullets strike a school in Newark's Central Ward this evening.
According to preliminary reports, police officers inside the school notified headquarters of possible shots fired that rang out at around 9:20 p.m. on the 17th Avenue side of the Central High School building.
Officers place the building on lockdown as Newark Police officers swiftly arrived at the scene to investigate.
At least one bullet struck the building, but a search of the area for injured victims came back negative.
Every inside the building -including children- were secured according to authorities.
There were no arrests reported, and the investigation remains active and ongoing.
