Newark Firefighters and hazmat crews are on the scene of a chemical spill that has authorities evacuating several factories in the radius of the incident.
According to preliminary reports, police were called to the Liquid Cargo located in the 20' block of Hyatt Avenue at around 10:25 a.m. after they received reports of a chemical spill at that location.
Crews began to evacuate the area after they believed that the spill could be explosive and hazardous according to reports.
Traffic is heavy in the area as police have several roads blocked off and detoured.
There are no injuries immediately reported.
