There are life-threatening injuries reported for the victim of a shooting that occurred on the Newark Hillside border this evening.
According to preliminary reports, at approximately 7:10 p.m., an armed male suspect arrived in the vicinity of Chancellor and Maple avenues then opened fire in the direction of an unidentified male striking him multiple times.
The suspect immediately sped from the scene in the vehicle with Hillside Police in pursuit.
Police lost the suspect inside who occupied a grey Dodge Durango inside Weequahic Park.
Officers on the scene provided CPR to the victim who remains in critical condition.
Police say a second gunshot victim entered Beth Israel Hospital at 7:35 p.m.
There is a crime scene established and an investigation underway.
Avoid the area for the investigation.
