In a continuing wave of violence, Newark's Central Ward became the latest scene of a deadly shooting, marking the city's fourth fatal incident since Sunday.The Essex County Prosecutor's Office is responding to a shooting in the area of 735 Martin Luther King Boulevard, which occurred around 6:20 p.m., resulting in at least two individuals shot, one of whom has been confirmed dead.
Police, upon arrival, found a critically injured person and immediately administered CPR.
Another victim suffering from gunshot wounds was also discovered, though their condition has not been confirmed as fatal.
A third individual found bleeding at the location is believed to have been shot as well. A significant crime scene has been established as county officials take over the investigation.
No arrests have been made at this time. Residents and commuters are advised to avoid the area to allow for the ongoing investigation.
This week's homicide victims include an Imam, a 67-year-old man, a 17-year-old boy, and an unidentified individual who was killed tonight.
This recent spate of shootings adds to the growing concern over public safety in Newark.
