A confirmed armed carjacking that occurred in the Union County town of Springfield had Newark and East Orange Police departments team up to take down three suspects Friday morning.
This is what's being preliminarily reported at this time, the suspects were first wanted for a gunpoint carjacking of a Jaguar that occurred at 156 Custer in the city’s South Ward on Thursday.
Police say the men reportedly dumped the Jaguar at the ShopRite parking lot in Milburn where they again searched for their next potential victim.
The suspects, armed with a rifle, -including a female- carjacked a black 2016 4-door Lexus from Springfield Township.
Authorities say, that vehicle was last seen in the vicinity of 936 Bergen Street at around 10:30 a.m.
East Orange and Newark Police spotted the car near Central Avenue and began a pursuit that ended on Central near the Wendy’s in East Orange at around 10:51 a.m.
There were no injuries reported and the incident remains under investigation.
