Police are on the scene of a double shooting that has occurred up in Newark’s West Ward at this time.
As the rain began to pour from the sky over Newark, a male gunman walked up to the scene of South Orange Avenue and Stuyvesant then fired multiple rounds from a gun at two males sitting in a car near that intersection shortly before 5 p.m.
Police arrived at the scene and requested EMS on a rush after locating one of the victims suffering a gunshot wound to his back according to reports.
The other victim was struck in the hand by gunfire.
Both males were rushed to University Hospital where doctors are treating their injuries.
The motive for the shooting remains under investigation.
