Newark Public Schools Superintendent Mr. Roger Leon has canceled remote classes and closed central offices due to Friday's snowstorm.
According to a 6:35 a.m. phone message, Mr. Leon announced the closings to all staff and students in the district.
"This has been a long week for the district, so enjoy the day off and enjoy the snow," Mr. Leon announced.
Forecasters at the National Weather Service announced that snow would dump about 3-5 inches of snow in parts of the state before tapering off around 9:30 a.m.
According to Superintendent Leon, staff and students in Newark are expected to return to remote learning early Monday morning.
Due to rising COVID-19 pandemic numbers statewide, the district returned to remote learning after winter recess and is expected to continue until January 18, 2022.
