Firefighters from several municipalities are on the scene of a fire destroying a building in a section of Roselle at this time.
Officials said at approximately 11:15 a.m., firefighters rushed to 118 West 2nd Street after receiving reports of a fire inside a 4-story brick apartment building.
Upon arrival, crews observed flames tearing through the top floor of the building forcing fire officials at the scene to strike a second then a third alarm after the fire intensified and there was word of possible trapped occupants inside the building.
According to officials, at approximately 12:30 p.m., heavy flames continued to spread through the 3rd and 4th floors.
Firefighters were forced to evacuate the building after a portion of the roof collapsed, causing a dangerous situation for crew members.
As of 12:35 p.m., the fire was not placed under control and no severe injuries have been reported.
